The Brown Rabbit Walkabout
The East Coast Trail runs along the east coast of the Avalon Peninsula in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. Hikingtrails start at Fort Amherst in St. John's and ends in Cappahayden.
With the help of hiking maps you can begin and end your hike wherever you feel most comfortable, doing only small parts or the entire trail from beginning to end. We organize your hikes on a daily basis depending on the weather and the aches and pains of the hikers.
We offer a wonderful 6-day and a 9 day walkabout package for hiking the East Coast Trail. Our package includes pick up and drop off at St. John's Airport, accommodations, and daily transportation to and from trailheads. You will be greeted and picked up by Bill at St. John's Airport, and transported to The Brown Rabbit Cabins, where you will be staying. Unpack, relax and concentrate on hiking the trail. Your hiking vacation has now begun! Breakfast and supper are served in our cozy dining room and we pack you a lunch for the trail (we serve home cooked meals, lots of local cuisine and we will take care of any dietary needs, just let us know in advance). Enjoy the warm atmosphere of our dining room, where all the hikers get together and talk about their day on the trails. Then retire to your cozy cabin or room to rest for the next day of hiking.
We cater to hikers travelling alone, or groups up to 20 persons. Having hiked much of the trail ourselves, we are quite acquainted with the different sections and can give you advice on many details of the trail. We also sell packages of East Coast Trail Maps. We can also extend the Walkabout for any serious hikers who wish to do the entire trail starting at Flat Rock (only available for groups of 8 or more).
